Shea does a really great job with their new builds. We were surprised how close they stuck to the original schedule despite all of the shortages and supply chain issues. After moving in there were a few issues that have taken a long time to resolve. Our water heater was supposed to have a recirculation pump, for example. 2 months in and the recirculation pump still isn't functioning after multiple visits from plumbers and the customer care team. Overall we're happy despite the minor issues.

If you are coming to Encanterra I suggest getting Aimee as your sales rep. She was the BEST part of the Shea buying experience. She was incredible to work with. I think all builds are a test in patience. This one was even more so, with supply chain and labor shortages it took a lot longer to build than would be expected. There were probably more issues to deal with than normal as well. Aimee was on top of all of them. Even when we came up with a snag with financing. I wouldn't suggest using Shea financing. Love at 1st site. The Shea home that I recently purchased had all of the features that I wanted from the hardwood floors to the patio area. My sales person Jane was easy to work with and had answers to all of my questions. Jeremy the building supervisor knowledgeable and easy to work with. Buying this house has been a totally positive experience.

During the final inspection we found several issues that were documented but do not have any action plan to address. We had discovered the manufacturer of the main power panel had reported issues with quality of breakers that could cause a fire. We were told that would be investigated but 90 days later no update. A garage door panel was dented after installation and prior to taking possession. They forced me to close the escrow with a combo walk without even frig and with a lots of issues.For ex. I was forced to have upgraded washer/ dryer. During the combo walk, it shows them don't fit the space. As if today, Shea still hasn't fix the problem. This is just one of the examples.

sales person was helpful and was knowledgeable but after deposit paid she wasnt much help addressing my concerns. There were several delays with the build and communication about completion was minimal. there are still some items that havent been fixed or completed in my house. I felt frustrating during most of the process

Shea is already above the rest of the builders in Colorado. However, they are not fulling living up to their perceived reputation. Communication, communication, communication is big in the world between customers and the business. It is just as important internally in a business. Shea has a lot of work to do with communication. Lastly, I would say Shea could do a regular audit of their employees’ job performances. Of the handful of employees I interacted with, there were a couple that had competency issues with job duties. Aside from the previous faults, I do like my house and quality within.

Our home building experience was not great from the start. When we originally looked at the lot, we were given a base price which we verbally agreed upon. Then, when we went to sign our contract, the price raised $20,000. Our sales rep, Liz, never gave us a warning of a rate increase. In fact, she told us to come in on a Saturday before Monday so we would miss the price increase. Overall, very unprofessional. Catherine in sales is very courteous, professional and very responsive. The builder Matt, was generally not receptive to patent errors and in some instances expressed irritation when it was pointed out e.g. unlevelled flooring, narrow doorway where a person could barely fit through (eventually fixed) , framed out closets (eventually fixed) etc. Currently the soil around the walkway is greatly eroded due to a couple of rains exposing the cement underneath. The whole process with Shea Homes has been great! Moving in went very smooth and the whole team has been awesome. The couple of items that didn’t get completed prior to move in have been difficult to get scheduled and had a minor miscommunication but outside of that Shea builds an amazing product. Amy and team definitely created an experience like no one else and we highly recommend purchasing a new home with Shea!

Overall good experience until the final walkthrough. None of the punch list items had been taken care of so we refused to close escrow until they were. Delayed closing by 5 days. Never received refrigerator which we paid for so had to get refund for that. There was a disconnect between sales, construction, & customer service. No one seemed to be on the same page. We were a previous Shea customer in Trilogy community and the process with that transacton was much more seamless & better coordinated. The process was a bit confusing and some areas were rushed but overall we are happy to be in our new home. The warranty period has been good, having fixed the issues pretty quickly. Having the neighborhood gatherings sponsored by Shea was a nice touch to bring us all together and foster a community, not just people who live next to each other.

Although our experience with Shea Builders has been, for the most part, very positive, there are some issues that still require attention. For example: We were promised that the exterior paint problems would be addressed prior to closing. Two months, the area outside our front door remains unpainted, although it has been scheduled on at least three different times. I don’t understand why the painter has been unresponsive.
