I don’t recommend to buy from Shea Homes

From day one we were kept up to date on the build. Our design center appointment was fantastic and the representative really helped us with out interior selections. Love our cabinets, floors and all appointments. We couldn't have done it this well without her help. Our delivery with Joe was great, very few items that were fixed immediately and were done when we took possession. Two minor items we found after move in were addressed at the one month review. Michael was our construction supervisor and he kept us updated along the way. Did a great job. Over the years have purchased 8 new homes, this is the best one yet! ... More

Overall, we are happy living here! We are enjoying the house as well as meeting so many new friends. This is the 4th home we have built and we understand the process. We asked questions in advance and accepted that this home wasn’t 100% a custom home since we needed to stay within the Shea home plan. Again, we have confidence with Sonja & Sonny and they made themselves available to talk to us when issues arise. We had issues with the design team where incorrect kitchen cabinets, doors, ceiling molding and bathroom counter were installed per our contract. We lost confidence with the design team’s lack of responsibility and this includes their manager on site who never followed up after meetings with us. When going over the options the sales team encouraged you to shop around for the best options for your needs and lifestyle. They didn’t try to encourage you to just buy what they offered.

Make sure you keep track of everything otherwise they might try and switch out things you ordered and then make you feel like that was never an option. Overall the experience was okay. They do provide differential treatment to some buyers that are able to do modifications where others are told no. After moving in everything is great except for the caulking. There are holes in it and door jams not completely caulked. Most things seemed rushed instead of taking the time to make sure it’s right.

Responsiveness to issues, excellent staff on issues

Sales office and Shea home mortgage personnel are very responsive for questions. The design and layout of the house is very modern. Love the house fill with lights.

Shea is the way to go. Amazing people work for Shea and you can rest easy they will Build you an amazing home.

The concern I had was with the disclosure or lack thereof regarding the surround sound system for the house. We had it installed by the builders subcontractor Adobe, but were never advised that they did not hook the speakers up to the owners receivers and equipment as part of the process. This should have been disclosed by Adobe and/or Shea as part of the build process.

We got off to a rough start with Shea. We selected the Latigo model at original document signing, only to find out 4 weeks afterward that Shea did not include cabinets in the Casita nor would Shea install cabinetry in the Casita. No one ever said a word about this, not our sales rep or any of the staff in the model home. And the models had no signage indicating such. We felt that was very misleading. When I tried to reason with Melissa T. about this issue, she gave me a car purchasing analogy that I found a bit insulting considering the amount of money we were spending. When Shea started the build, the foundation was put in the wrong place and our friends noticed the placement and contacted us. Fortunately, I had the correct plot plan and was able to get it to Abbey and Shea before the concrete was poured. This delayed our build 6 weeks and there was no apology, no compensation, nothing from Shea except an "Oops". Strike 2. That was souring. Working with the designers was unusual since we had to make all the aesthetic selections on line due to the quarantine, but we were able to finish. Angela was excellent. Shea built our home with all the correct selections. We will have to see how it fares living in it. I have already noticed some sloppy craftsmanship around the window installs. Large gaps between the stucco were filled in with caulking. Definitely not fine home building there. I will address this on our 6 month walk through (or whatever the month walk through coming up). Quality builder. Good value for your money

Good quality and updates throughout the process. Would buy with Shea again!!!!

I liked being able to pick a certain package however I didn't like that I could not make a change. For instance I ordered blinds but did not want them on the small window & could not have them not put those up. The reason I took off the stars was because when I moved in my outside water did not work because of a kink in the line & they had to cut a hole in my wall. Then the breaker switch on my tv kept going off making me think I had a tv problem. No the electric lines in the switch plate were touching. In both cases Shea did react quickly to resolve the issues but both were very stressful for me. ... More

This is my second time with Shea and again, the whole process was a great experience as before. Their house is really in great quality and the customer service is so good. Our dedicated customer service rep is very helpful and responsive. Overall, a trustworthy builder.

The cheapest materials are used and the upgrades are way overpriced.

This is our second new build and the experience with Shea was much better than our last experience. The Shea team was very responsive throughout the process and went above and beyond. Now that we are in our new home they continue to quickly address any warranty items. Their homes are high quality and and up-to-date with the latest technology and smart products.

Octavio was the person who delivered the house to us. He has always checked on us from the start to make sure our transition was smooth. He took the time to get to know us personally and made sure any issues we found after move-in were resolved in a very quick manner. I even told him that he seemed to take care of our home like it was his! We are very happy with the loan process and all the tips June gave us to make sure we had the best rate when closing out. Great experience, and the home is beautiful!
