We’ve been moved in for 2 months and everything seems to be up to our expectations. Shea homes have kept in communication with us starting from when the home was being built to now. and they’re quick to resolve any issues within a very reasonable time, which haven’t been many or major . We love our new home and would recommend a Shea home to anyone in the market for a home purchase

This experience was awful! The VP Scott was arrogant and does not care about customers. I have asked other Shea home neighbors and they all felt the same! No one addresses problems and did not things seriously. We all spent a lot of money and chose to pick Shea, but we was treated as if we should be grateful to have Shea. That is why Perry has sold more houses in this section than Shea. Customer service is the most important aspect of sales.

We had an outstanding experience with Shea. As one of Shea's first buyers in The Groves, they took care of us from start to finish. Alan did a great job of walking us through the buying process to get started and was available every step of the way. Joel went above and beyond through our construction process and stayed on top of all the details to make sure we were satisfied with every item during construction (and if we weren't, to make sure it was fixed). Then, Alexis has already been out for our first quality visit and is making sure we are happy in our new home and helping us through a few minor issues. Shea Homes has definitely been our best experience with a new builder. They offer a lot of checkpoints through the process and make concerted efforts to address outstanding items in a timely manner. The handoff process was also exemplary. Joel left us the full "instruction manual" for our new home and they have QR codes you can scan with your phone to take you to online guides for appliances, etc. We would not hesitate to buy another Shea home in the future. Shea has exceeded my expectations Ive bought a new built home before and after i closed the company wasn't responsive however Shea has been top notch with responding to all minor issues

I don't even know where to begin. What was suppose to be my dream home has now turned into the most horrible home building experience, I've ever had. I'm a seasoned homeowner, this is not my first rodeo. I've built three other homes that I did not have this many issues with. I had never heard of Shea Homes, but they were the only ones left that were building in the area I wanted to build with the price point that I was comfortable with (mid/high). They pride themselves as a mid-level luxury builder, but they are far from that! The sales experience was great I thought until later when I found out that the items that were not done, originated at the sales office. The construction experience was ridiculous. At the construction meeting my build was handed over to another construction manager who came from a reputable builder, however the manager was not prepared as he did not even familiarize himself with the blueprints of the home! We spent most of the meeting figuring out where to place the in-ground outlet in the family room. We also discovered at that time the study was not recorded with doors, just an opening by the sales office. Spoke to the sales office, which offered to add framing for a door at no cost due to the error, but I needed to install the door at my expense later, which I was fine with. At the pre-drywall meeting, he didn't have the inspection report from my inspector to go over, so my time and my realtor's time was wasted. He said that most everything that was on the report was already on their list as well and would be fixed. We pointed out that the study did not look like it was framed for the door, he said that they were still working on it. Overall the construction manager was not communicative of the process and would get agitated when asked questions. As with many other builders the construction was delayed due to Covid and that was understandable. However, as my build was nearing completion I asked before putting my existing house up for sale if the estimated date of completion is still end of December and was assured yes. I was able to sell my house at full asking price in one day with multiple offers. We had it planned out perfectly with the close being end of December. Three weeks before the close, we were told by the builder that the house was not going to be completed until second week of January. We had to renegotiate our existing house sale to include a lease back for the additional time and lost 7K in the deal. Then the week of our close the construction manager asked if there was any way to push it another week, I said absolutely not! He said the aesthetics (paint, caulking, cleaning, etc.) were still not complete and the home would not be 100% move in ready, but would take care of everything in the weeks to come. I said that I was fine with that and closed on the home. At the walk through they were still working on the home, so I did not sign any documentation as it was only a ten minute walk through. Move day, they were still painting rooms as we moved in. They gave us a few weeks to settle in and that's when all the trouble began. Found out things such as gas dryer connection, carriage lights in front of home, etc., things that you would expect from a mid level luxury builder to have included in the home was not included but were an option. The options should have been brought up in the sales meeting and were not. As I we settled into the home we noticed that the seams in between the drywall in the whole family room were showing. After having a few independent contractors/engineers look at it, it was found that Shea contractors did not let the mud/filler in between the drywall boards dry before texturing and painting. At this point I did not want to have anything to do with the construction manager Jason. The matter was escalated to Josh, who quickly tried to diffuse the situation and was helpful in getting the drywall, dryer connection and driveway taken care of before he handed me off to the warranty department. Although Alexis in warranty has been helpful in trying to get things taken care of, she is now unavailable. Nobody is available. I have left messages for Alexis and Josh and have not heard back. It is now four months and my house still has the orange tape they marked on everything that needed fixing. I have family coming at the end of May and need all this fixed NOW! I have communicated this with Josh two weeks ago and have not heard back. Speaking with my neighbors, I'm learning they are having the same issues. We all have decided that if this lack of communication continues and issues are not taken care of soon, we will have no choice but to take action. So Shea, where is "The Shea Difference" that you are so proud of?? "The thoughtfulness that sets you apart"?? Your website says you offer "An experience as enjoyable as the place you'll call home", I think not! Those of you that are contemplating buying a home with Shea, think hard. Keep in mind all things you would normally see in a home may be considered options with Shea. They nickle and dime you on everything! I spent almost 70K just in options/upgrades and my home does not show it due to their craftsmanship. Four months later I'm sitting in a home with drywall issues, unsealed trims, unpainted trims, cracked countertop, cracked toilet, rusted bath tub, holes in concrete patio, cracks in concrete in garage, no gutters in back of home, no carriage lights, the list goes on. The Shea experience was fabulous, second to none

Beautiful home design and the price was good to include upgrade prices.. I had to remind construction manager about upgrades.. Who is checking the checker? The painters should be banned from painting.. Floors not floated or not properly floated… Still waiting 3 months for outdoor kitchen refrigerator handle.. Waiting on outdoor kitchen brick repairs.. Took a year 13 months to build home since deposit and watched neighborhoods and others builders closing homes within 6 to 8 months.. Can’t blame COVID-19 on this.. The warranty lady for Shea is correcting what should have been done earlier.. The sales lady was amazing and a buffer but heard she got fired.. ... More

This was not the greatest home buying experience. I've bought 3 previous new builds and have never had the lack of communication and lack of attention to details during the building process and up until final walk through. Shea takes entirely too long to build a home in comparison to Perry, Drees and Highland in this particular area. Once moved in, my warranty representative found a list of things that needed to be addressed and redone on top of the things that were not addressed during the build. I will not recommend anyone to use this builder!

Punchlist items from pre-closing meetings still not fixed after 3 months in the house. Electrical issues, painting issues, security equipment issues. LOTS of fit and finish issues. Wouldn't recommend.

Closed escrow December of last year It now May and still waiting for Ring doorbell and Wi-Fi plus repairs needed

Details are a problem with the end product

The process of building our house with Shea Homes was full of stress, frustration and anxiety instead of excitement. The company contracted unqualified workers that didn't care for the work they do. We though the quality of work will be the same as the model home WRONG, before moving in, we had to paint the house, the paint the company used was the lowest quality. We been leaving in the house 2 months and quite often we loss electricity in the master bedroom, we report the problem at least 6 times and still is not fixed, is a long list of problems due to the very poor job.

Builder uses subcontractors and coordination between trades is poor or non existent. Sometimes things are put together without any thought being given to function. So for example a video doorbell is installed where the pointed at a wall rather than the entryway. A towel holder is installed such that any hanging towel blocks the electric outlet a few inches underneath. How does one plug in a hairdryer with a wet towel draped over the outlet. The front lawn is graded wrong and the manhole cover for the City drains are covered- solution? Unknown workmen come in, dig to uncover and expose the manhole cover and leave a pile of dirt on the lawn and an open hole that is a now is a potential hazard. The best part is this is done without any information being shared with the homeowner. Not even a knock on the door. Warranty service is very spotty. Messages left and e-mails go unanswered. The build experience towards the end was stressful. We chose upgrades that we had to follow up on. The project management was lacking. The workmanship was not good. We are still dealing with issues like basic finishing of tiles that have grout haze on them, Lvp flooring with stains. Quite disappointed

When I started looking to buy a home I looked at all homebuilders in the Houston metro area. When I came across Shea homes I really liked the floor plans, and they had some upgrade options that I have never seen with other homebuilders. I had never heard of Shea homes before, so I did some research online and saw that they had good reviews. I came to see the model homes in person and fell in love with one specifically. At that time the lots were not released yet for pre-sales, but I spoke to the Sales Rep. David and he kept me updated on when we could buy. The building process took about 5 1/2 months and David, Josh, and Jason kept us updated along the way. They are very friendly, respond quickly, and always addressed any concerns we had. The quality of our home is great, and we have a very beautiful home that we absolutely love! I would recommend Shea Homes to anyone. ... More

A decent builder with good service

Shea built us a nice house but after closing the Customer Care disappears ... The overall quality of the house is average. The buying process was good, the choice of external materials and features was terribly poor: only a few samples of bricks and stones, no catalogs to see or images, just use your imagination to try to understand the final result, this is it was very frustrating. The Design Center is a trap for customers, just adding really basic upgrades (or simply changing some materials) the prices rises easily about 20K+. The "included" materials are really ugly. At Closing my front and back garden was not finished and part of the backyard was already dead (it is still dead after 3 months ...). After the first month's inspection I detailed all the haouse issues but after many promises, no one came or called me to fix them. I will not recommend Shea to family and friends. ... More
