Very poor quality and workmanship

I am extremely disappointed with the quality and workmanship of my newly-built home. As a new homeowner who has invested over $500K into this property, I expected a level of quality that is simply not present. From the moment I moved into my newly built home 3 months ago, I have encountered numerous issues that should have been addressed during the construction process. The walls are not straight, the paint job is sloppy, wall texture is uneven, tiles are crooked, cabinet paint is peeling, windows seals are broken, roof was leaking, pipes were leaking behind the wall, and a number of ...

Poor Craftsmanship, Extremely cheap finishes

I have purchased several homes over the years and my new Shea home is by for the worst. The only reason i purchased the home is i was being relocated by my job and needed an inventory home immediately and this one was available. Everything in this home, the sinks, the tubs, the fixtures, shower heads, lighting, light switches, door knobs, ceiling fans, faucets and cabinets are all of the cheapest quality. I wouldn't think that such cheap material would be used in a 410k home. The paint and caulk was finished extremely sloppy. I have been living in the home just over a month and i have noticed ...

Take your business elsewhere. Shea built us a subpar home that is not worth the premium pricing they asked for. There was very little receptiveness to criticism from us pointing out even the most obvious of issues. Ask to meet and talk to the construction manager before deciding to sign the contract.
Shea Homes responded:
Thank you for your feedback, Randy. Our team is and has been working with you to address your concerns about the home. We believe we will be able to effectively address these concerns in the normal course of business.

I'll start by saying if I knew what I know now, I'd have gone with a different builder. The workmanship and quality of Shea Homes product (specifically) my home is complete garbage. For what the house cost, anyone in their right mine would expect a better product. From poor paint job, floor/tile completion, misaligned doors and the list goes on. Each day I'm in this house, I find more issues of poor craftsmanship and rush job. What makes it frustrating is the fact there were zero compromises from the builder in regards to making minor changes during the building process but here I am waiting ...

Shea Home purchase

Overall we did not have a great experience with our first home purchase. Three different builders worked on our home. The first two were let go. I will give credit to Jorge for inherited a myriad of problems, did his absolute best to clean up the mess. You must get a third party inspector. It's a must. The builders gave us a very hard time over that but we still had him come through, despite costing us $750. Our inspector delivered a report well over twenty pages. We were wooed by the model house. Yet the quality of the build on ours was anything from it. Sloppy craftmanship through ...

Sales Manager and initial construction manager were good

The build experience towards the end was stressful. We chose upgrades that we had to follow up on. The project management was lacking. The workmanship was not good. We are still dealing with issues like basic finishing of tiles that have grout haze on them, Lvp flooring with stains. Quite disappointed
Shea Homes responded:
Hi Sharmila. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your home. We will continue to be in contact with you to work through the items noted on your 1-month visit. We're working now to get our contractors scheduled to address these items.

Shea Homes - This experience was awful!

This experience was awful! The VP Scott was arrogant and does not care about customers. I have asked other Shea home neighbors and they all felt the same! No one addresses problems and did not things seriously. We all spent a lot of money and chose to pick Shea, but we was treated as if we should be grateful to have Shea. That is why Perry has sold more houses in this section than Shea. Customer service is the most important aspect of sales.

Who is Checking the Checker????
- Elias L.

- Rosharon, TX
Beautiful home design and the price was good to include upgrade prices.. I had to remind construction manager about upgrades.. Who is checking the checker? The painters should be banned from painting.. Floors not floated or not properly floated… Still waiting 3 months for outdoor kitchen refrigerator handle.. Waiting on outdoor kitchen brick repairs.. Took a year 13 months to build home since deposit and watched neighborhoods and others builders closing homes within 6 to 8 months.. Can’t blame COVID-19 on this.. The warranty lady for Shea is correcting what should have been done earlier.. ...

Nice house, just fair quality and bad Customer Care :(
- Leandro S.

Shea built us a nice house but after closing the Customer Care disappears ... The overall quality of the house is average. The buying process was good, the choice of external materials and features was terribly poor: only a few samples of bricks and stones, no catalogs to see or images, just use your imagination to try to understand the final result, this is it was very frustrating. The Design Center is a trap for customers, just adding really basic upgrades (or simply changing some materials) the prices rises easily about 20K+. The "included" materials are really ugly. At Closing my front ...

No quality check. Bad Project Manager. Lots of issues and don't fix easily after follow up also

Project Manager assigned had no clue on the work happening and literally there is no quality check done by Project Manager and Quality team. Not sure why Shea Homes has even employed them. Basics to major issues were missed out. Cracked woods, alignment, Gaps in exterior fly sheets (not stapled and low quality), wavy walls inside, tiles alignment, cracks in concrete. 7 windows needed to be replaces after we pointed out the issue. Our blood boils thinking about what we have been made to go through this. We have spent so many hrs wit observation, documenting and follow up with project manager ...

Shea Homes Del Bello Lakes

The process of building our house with Shea Homes was full of stress, frustration and anxiety instead of excitement. The company contracted unqualified workers that didn't care for the work they do. We though the quality of work will be the same as the model home WRONG, before moving in, we had to paint the house, the paint the company used was the lowest quality. We been leaving in the house 2 months and quite often we loss electricity in the master bedroom, we report the problem at least 6 times and still is not fixed, is a long list of problems due to the very poor job.

Would not recommend building with Shea
- Richard G.

The whole build out process was terrible. The general contractors here are basically sales people and have a made up answer for everything you ask them. We’ve had numerous items that were on our addendum that we pointed out that weren’t there while we did our check ins during the build. Sent our sales rep and GC an email listing out all of those things. GC made up lies saying like our coach lights are wired, they bricked over it and they just need to cut it out. Come back a week later, electricians are at the house installing it and even told us that they were called back out because they ...

I don't even know where to begin. What was suppose to be my dream home has now turned into the most horrible home building experience, I've ever had. I'm a seasoned homeowner, this is not my first rodeo. I've built three other homes that I did not have this many issues with. I had never heard of Shea Homes, but they were the only ones left that were building in the area I wanted to build with the price point that I was comfortable with (mid/high). They pride themselves as a mid-level luxury builder, but they are far from that! The sales experience was great I thought until later when I ...
